Building use, importance, and newsworthiness:

This building has multiple purposes. First and foremost, it serves as a boutique winery. All of the wines are produced and bottled on site and there is a retail area that sells the wines and other items created by local craftsmen. Additionally, there are different sized meeting areas that can accommodate an event that seats 250 people. Finally, there are five rentable suites.

Unique features:

The owners of this building wanted to combine a working boutique winery, retail space, hotel suites and an event center that could host 250 people all in one complex that featured two barns connected by two 24' grain bins. By phasing the construction, the owners were able to start producing wine, selling merchandise and generating an income before the entire complex was completed. Post-frame construction allowed for a new building that looks like an authentic rustic barn.

Post-frame advantage:

Post-frame construction was chosen over other construction techniques because of the smaller lead time for acquiring the building materials, the lower construction costs the aesthetic options available.
