The owner was in the process of selling his current home to his son and daughter in-law and was looking to build a house/shop on his hunting land that he could move to. The new facility had to be able to house all of his items that he had in his current garages and sheds along with having enough of living space for himself and potential hunting clients along with an office for his profession.
The customer wanted this structure to fit and blend on his hunting property and yet be able to accommodate all of his needs of having a shop to house his items, living space and office space. The site was built up with fill from the property and the entire structure has 2" rigid foam under the entire slab along with in-floor heat with separate zones for the shop, porch, and living space.
The shop was finished with sheetrock fire barrier to separate home from shop (per code) and the wall finish in the shop is 36" ribbed steel liner for the walls and ceiling. The shop can accommodate the owners equipment and trucks along with work space, a cooler (for deer processing).
The living quarters is finished in a "Cabin" type with vaulted ceilings, car siding on walls and ceilings, and rustic finishes. The porch area is covered with 1/2 log siding and car siding on the ceiling which will serve as a sitting area, hot tub area, and firewood storage. The kitchen and great space is open and creates a large eating and relaxing area.
The house has 1 bedroom on main floor with master bath, walk-in closet, office space, laundry room, additional bathroom, kitchen, dining area and great room area. The living quarters extends 16' into the shop and is (2) story. Upper story has (2)large bedrooms with walk-in closets which he will use for clients who come to hunt the property. The living space has 1" spray foam insulation and 6" wall batt insulation and the entire structure has tyvek house wrap and the owner is looking forward to a very "Energy" efficient home.
Customer enjoys the functionality of his post-frame garage and was looking to capture that efficient structure for his new shop and house. The owner was trying to use the sale of his current property to his son and was looking for the most economically efficient way to complete this structure.
