Malishenko Family Barn
Built By:
Hochstetler Buildings, LLC
Granville, Ohio
Building use, importance, and newsworthiness: This delightful post and beam appearance barn will have multiple hobby functions. The Malishenko family is enjoying the fruits of a sustainable property. They have a greenhouse and chicken coup also. They intend to seed and pot plants, raise chicks, carry out property maintenance/projects and as opportunity permits, entertain out of this building.

Unique features: The building is tucked into a hillside and very visible from all sides. The Malishenko family had a specific desire to use wood products for the siding in order to carry a 1920's era connection. We utilized sliding doors with large fixed lite window units to keep the building open and appealing. The roofing is a galvalume 5-v crimp roof panel in keeping with the era appearance. The interior contains a 12' x 24' loft hideaway. We used Fir 4" x 4" railing posts with horizontal cable spindling to keep the lower and upper levels flowing together.

Post-frame advantage: We had initially discussed post and beam construction but as we designed the project we were able to supply all of the desired details with post frame and save substantial money.
